Welcome to the Karnes City Volunteer Fire Department
Since the department's inception over one hundred years ago, the KCVFD has been committed to one core principle: Protection. Our team of dedicated volunteers serves the Karnes County community 24/7, responding to fire emergencies, rescue calls, and other situations. We invite you to explore the site to learn more about our rich history, devoted members, extensive training, and how you too can be a part of keeping our community safe.
The KCVFD is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that sponsors numerous community initiatives, including an annual Fire Prevention Week at the local elementary school. We also participate in the Fill the Boot program with other departments around the nation to help raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
We're also proud to be one of the five volunteer fire departments that make up the Karnes County Emergency Services District (ESD), formed in 1972 to fund fire protection and rescue operations across all 753 square miles of the county.

Our fleet has grown from a hand-pulled hose cart into a modern lineup of engines, tankers, and rescue equipment, kept ready whenever we are called upon.
